Online education now has a wide share of higher education across the world. According to AbroadEd, the COVID-19 pandemic played a strong role in the wide adoption of online education in several world regions.
Many campuses shut down their physical classrooms and switched to online classes because of the pandemic. This greatly helped many students, especially those balancing work and study.
AbroadEd could confirm that many students would rather enrol in an online program than a traditional program.
According to McKinsey’s research, many students prefer online learning because it offers great convenience, accessibility and study-life balance compared with traditional classroom settings.
What students prefer in online education
AbroadEd established that McKinsey surveyed 7,000 students in 17 countries in the Americas, Europe, Asia and the Middle East.
All the students surveyed by McKinsey had moved to online classes during the pandemic, so they had first-hand experience to share regarding online education. About 65 per cent of the students agreed they would like some aspects, if not all, of their learning experience to remain virtual.
The students appreciate the flexibility and convenience online education offers them. They emphasized that they could balance their lives around their studies, work and families when their courses are online.
AbroadEd could also confirm that many students would prefer online learning to be widely adopted because of the possibility of watching recorded classes later as many times as possible.
Many also indicated that they appreciate the easy access to online study materials and the flexibility that online classes grant them by being able to work and study simultaneously.
